Aftercare

While we are in the business of Honoring Life's Memories™ we want to provide a continuum of care for the families we serve. Linda Sue Hall, who is also a Licensed Social Worker/Bereavement Specialist, provides bereavement aftercare to the families we have served. She places follow-up telephone calls to family members, just to see how they are doing. She continues follow-up on a regular basis during the first year, which may include in-person visits. She will also recommend resources for those needing continued support.

There are several services we provide, free of charge, to help you cope in the days and months ahead.

Bereavement Aftercare

About a month after the funeral our grief specialist, Linda Sue Hall, Licensed Social Worker/Bereavement Specialist, makes contact with those we served. She makes a telephone call and she can schedule a visit, too. Her purpose in calling is just to see how you are doing. She is calling to listen to you, so feel free to let her know if there is anything in particular that you are concerned or confused about. If there is another member of your family that you feel would benefit from a call from her, just let her know.

Annual Christmas Service of Remembrance

Since 1991 we have held "Light a Candle of Love", a Christmas Service of Remembrance. It is held on the first Sunday of December, except when that is Thanksgiving weekend, when it is moved to the following Sunday. Every person whose funeral or memorial service was arranged through us is recognized and a family member may light a candle in their memory. We have found that this service is more helpful to you after some time has passed, so those funerals that occur on or after November 1st are remembered at the service the next year. Each family receives one invitation, which we ask to have passed on to all of the family members.

Weekly Radio Program

Our weekly radio program, "Music & Memories" is broadcast every Sunday morning at 8 a.m. over KASM radio, 1150 AM in Albany. Each week we recognize those who died in the coming week of the previous year and include inspirational music. We also invite listeners to call or write to have their loved one remembered on the program.

"Come Unto Me"

Several local business sponsors collaborate with us to provide a book of scriptural lessons relating to grief and bereavement, entitled "Come Unto Me".

Memorial Donation

As part of our commitment to honoring life's memories, Patton-Schad will make a memorial donation of $20 for each full service funeral we are entrusted with by the families we serve. Throughout the year, we will select six area programs, groups, or organizations to support so we can give back to you, the community.
