Good morning and welcome to Music & Memories. 
 
This is Linda Sue, and I am the grief specialist at Patton-Schad Funeral Home. It is my pleasure to bring you this week’s program. This program is our way of reaching out to help families deal with those difficult days surrounding the death anniversary of a loved one. 
 
Hello October! With October brings holiday anticipations, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Whether you're new to grief or grief has become a comfortable friend, we still try to look ahead to prepare. The fall season prepares us for winter. The shorter days and less sunshine can lead us to feelings of hopelessness and sadness. The changing color of the leaves is a visual reminder of death and loss. Fall is the time of routines, togetherness with family and indoor activities. Make a list of indoor activities you'd like to do once going outside is no longer an option; stocking up on puzzles, books to read, movies to watch or start a memorial project in honor of your loved one. In looking ahead helps us prepare, we still need to take one day at a time to keep our focus and not become overwhelmed. For now; get outside and enjoy the colors!
