Our weekly radio program, "Music & Memories", is broadcast every Sunday morning at 8 a.m. over KASM radio, 1150AM. Each week we recognize those who died in the coming week of the previous year, along with inspirational music.

Invitations to listen are sent out to each family we have served about a week before the program airs. But now we are able to post the script for this coming Sunday right here.

We invite you to have your loved one remembered on the program. Just fill out this form. Remember to send us the name and date of death about ten days ahead of time so that we can get them on the program the week before the anniversary date.

Music & Memories Broadcast for Sunday Dec 15, 2024 Covering the deaths from Dec 15-21, 2024 Good morning and welcome to Music & Memories. This is Linda Sue, and I am the grief specialist at Patton-Schad Funeral Home. It is my pleasure to bring you this week’s program. This program is our way of reaching out to help families deal with those difficult days surrounding the death anniversary of a loved one. Mid December with January weather! Even mother nature has an attitude. We are fast approaching Christmas and all challenges it brings with it. A few ways to help you get through your Christmas in one piece are to plan for your Christmas celebrations. Last week we talked about anticipating those celebrations but now let's plan for your Christmas. Having a plan can take some of the stress and anxiety away. Be kind and gentle to yourself; you need time; you need time for you, so know that it's ok to say no and not commit to others. It is ok that you don't do what you've normally done every year. Christmas celebrating goes along with how you feel. Allow yourself time to breathe, feel those feelings and cry. Crying those love tears are healthy for you and very cleansing. After a good cry be sure to drink a glass of water to refill. Remembering; Jesus is the reason for the season. This program is dedicated to the memory of: Robert “Bob” Kluempke who died December 6, 1989 Carol Linz who died December 7, 2023 Ferdinand “Ferd” Schmidtz who died December 8, 1980 Ed Geschwill who died December 10, 2022 Margaret Kersting who died December 11, 2024 Bill Geschwill who died December 11, 2013 Mary Ann Schmidtz who died December 12, 2013 Loretta Weinke who died December 14, 2022 Virgil Lenzmeier who died December 14, 2005 Kenneth “Ken” Groetsch who died December 15, 2023 Bernadette Larkey who died December 15, 2022 Caroline Hoagland who died December 15, 2021 Anna Lang who died December 15, 2000 Aloys Thielen who died December 15, 1975 Edward Watry Sr. who died December 16, 2008 Wayne Klein who died December 16, 1962 Margaret Terres who died December 16, 1947 Gerald “Jerry” Lahmers who died December 17, 2023 Herman Westendorf who died December 17, 2022 Carmen Lyon who died December 17, 2022 Richard “Rich” Schindler who died December 17, 2015 Marlene Douvier who died December 17, 2015 Don Gosiak who died December 17, 1994 Kimberly “Kim” Schmitz who died December 18, 2023 Neola Boyer who died December 18, 2022 Gene Geschwill who died December 18, 2013 Margaret Schreifels who died December 18, 2010 Edward “Eddie” Rudolph who died December 18, 1998 Maury Notch who died December 18, 1995 Cathy Groth who died December 19, 2022 Paul Heille who died December 19, 2022 Michael “Mike” Schiller who died December 19, 2021 Evelyn “Evy” Koop who died December 19, 2018 Jacob Wolbeck who died December 19, 2016 Mary Warner who died December 20, 2016 Shirley Strom who died December 21, 2023 Yvonne Notsch who died December 21, 2013 Jim Hoeschen who died December 21, 2012 Ron Blenkush who died December 21, 2007 Hubert Ritter who died December 21, 2001 Margaret Douvier who died December 21, 1998 Infant Mary Sand who died December 21, 1924 We encourage you as family and friends to show that you care by remembering these families, this week, with a phone call, a card, or a visit.

Music & Memories Broadcast for Sunday Dec 8, 2024 Covering the deaths from Dec 8-14, 2024 Good morning and welcome to Music & Memories. This is Linda Sue, and I am the grief specialist at Patton-Schad Funeral Home. It is my pleasure to bring you this week’s program. This program is our way of reaching out to help families deal with those difficult days surrounding the death anniversary of a loved one. Wow: By now winter has found us and Thanksgiving has become a memory. As our grief journey moves forward we are preparing our hearts and minds for the Christmas season. If your pain of grief is new, please know you don't have to follow the normal traditions. Holiday baking, decorating the tree, wrapping presents can be put off for now. Some find it comforting to continue with those traditions and others need to know it's ok if you skip a year. It's so important that you be you! It's exhausting to pretend and it's very ok to take a break. Do what you feel up to doing. It's enough sometimes just anticipating the upcoming celebrations, so stepping back' is ok and those who love you will understand. December 1, 2024
Music & Memories Broadcast for Sunday Dec 1, 2024 Covering the deaths from Dec 1-7, 2024 OPEN Good morning and welcome to Music & Memories. This is Linda Sue, and I am the grief specialist at Patton-Schad Funeral Home. It is my pleasure to bring you this week’s program on KASM. This program is our way of reaching out to help families deal with those difficult days surrounding the death anniversary of a loved one. As fast as Thanksgiving came upon us it has now become a memory. After preparing and anticipating the holiday, we now may feel empty and sad. Our grief journey can also bring days of emptiness and sadness. It helps to know this, too, will pass. It's ok to have feelings and sadness but acknowledging those feelings helps take the power away from them. It's when we keep our feelings locked inside that causes our pain, and emotions start to take over our world. By speaking out loud what you’re feeling, you take the power of the emotions away, and you gain control over your world. Remembering also that tears are a healthy way to cleanse your heart and soul. Shedding those tears, those love tears, surrounded by those who love you, shows how you loved and were loved back. Sharing memories, stories and tears are a very safe and healthy way to control those emotions. This program is dedicated to the memory of: Brenda Geise who died November 20, 2011 Rose Ann “Rosie” Wieneke who died November 22, 2024 Beverly Auer who died November 28, 2023 Alois Kociemba who died November 29, 2011 Susanna “Sue” Smith who died December 1, 2022 Bill Buerman who died December 1, 2020 Kathleen Burg who died December 1, 2018 Gertrude “Gertie” Cremers who died December 1, 2013 Estella Klemmer who died December 1, 2008 Leona MacArthur who died December 1, 1994 Bernard Arceneau who died December 2, 2021 Otto Thelen who died December 2, 2015 Marcella “Marcy” Blenker who died December 3, 2023 Pastor Robert Bernard, Jr. who died December 3, 2016 Michael Albert Bauer who died December 3, 1972 Herman Schaefer who died December 4, 2013 Edwin “Ed” Petermeier who died December 4, 2013 Marilyn Brick who died December 4, 1993 Marian Janssen who died December 5, 2023 Patrica “Patty” McCoy who died December 5, 2023 Bryan Goebel who died December 5, 2022 Bernard “Bernie” Schad who died December 5, 2011 Alex Cremers who died December 5, 2006 Alfred “Al” Hinnenkamp who died December 5, 2003 Stanley “Stan” Stalboerger who died December 6, 2023 Robert “Pete” Wippler who died December 6, 2005 Bruce Walz who died December 7, 2023 Carol Linz who died December 7, 2023 Cody Schuur who died December 7, 2022 Jerry Doschka who died on December 7, 2020 Joe Wolbeck Jr., who died December 7, 2014 We encourage you as family and friends to show that you care by remembering these families, this week, with a phone call, a card, or a visit.

Music & Memories Broadcast for Sunday Nov 24, 2024 Covering the deaths from Nov 24-30, 2024 Good morning and welcome to Music & Memories. This is Linda Sue, and I am the grief specialist at Patton-Schad Funeral Home. It is my pleasure to bring you this week’s program. This program is our way of reaching out to help families deal with those difficult days surrounding the death anniversary of a loved one. It's almost here! The Thanksgiving holiday you've been anticipating. Now what? Knowing in advance some of the triggers you might come across will help you prepare for those "grief bursts". Some of those triggers may be the people you'll be around, photo frames in sight and conversations about you and your loved one are just a few to be aware of. Being aware of your personal grief is so important! If you find your caught off guard, stop, take a breath and drink a glass of water to help ground you. Thanksgiving is a time; although it may be painful; to recognize the blessings in your life to be thankful for. We really should never need a special day to remind us of thankfulness because we should be thankful for every new day and the love that always surrounds us. Share those special stories of your loved ones and keep their memory alive. May your Thanksgiving be all you wish it to be! Music & Memories Broadcast for Sunday Nov 17, 2024 Covering the deaths from Nov 17-23, 2024 Good morning and welcome to Music & Memories. This is Linda Sue, and I am the grief specialist at Patton-Schad Funeral Home. It is my pleasure to bring you this week’s program. This program is our way of reaching out to help families deal with those difficult days surrounding the death anniversary of a loved one. As mother nature provides the good days and the bad days; sunshine and gloom, so does your grief. One day you'll feel happy and the next day sad. Sometimes when we're happy we catch ourselves apologizing to our loved one cause we feel guilty not being sad that you're gone. With the winter season ahead, we know that gloomy , dark days will be a challenge. This is where you'll need to set a plan in place. Contact a friend, go out for coffee, to a movie, have friends over, work on your to do list; the list goes on. What's important is knowing it's ok to be sad but also knowing not to allow sadness to take over your life. Life is for living and your loved one would agree! Create your own sunshine! This program is dedicated to the memory of: Peter Waldorf who died November 15, 2017 George Kramer who died November 15, 2012 Donald Leabch who died November 17, 2022 Dolores Hiltner who died November 17, 2020 Melvin Sauerer who died November 17, 2000 Robert Donnay who died November 17, 2016 Rudolph Rolfes who died November 17, 1961 Virgil Voller who died November 18, 2021 Dolores Pundsack who died November 19, 2022 Verdell Rudolph who died November 19, 2022 Mike McNamara who died November 19, 2017 Robert Derichs who died November 19, 2015 Marie McCoy who died November 19, 2003 John Nathe who died November 20, 2022 Ann Parsons who died November 20, 1994 Rita Mugg who died November 21, 2015 Rose “Rosie” Jonas who died November 21, 2013 Joyce Eveslage who died November 22, 2021 Roger Ostendorf who died November 22, 2020 Marcella Katzner who died November 22, 2011 Michael “Mike” Rieland who died November 23, 2023 Loretta Sand Petermeier who died November 23, 2014 Richard Sand who died November 23, 2006 Evelyn Witt who died November 23, 1991 We encourage you as family and friends to show that you care by remembering these families, this week, with a phone call, a card, or a visit.

This is Linda Sue, and I am the grief specialist at Patton-Schad Funeral Home. It is my pleasure to bring you this week’s program. This program is our way of reaching out to help families deal with those difficult days surrounding the death anniversary of a loved one. Upon entering into the first week of November you may be looking ahead to the anticipation of Thanksgiving. A few things to remember as you move ahead on your grief journey is to take care of you! Pay attention to your health; making sure you're getting the right amount of sleep, eating meals and being gentle with you is so important. Depending upon where you are at in your grief; early grief you may want to opt out on the yearly traditions knowing next year you'll be back to a new normal or long-term grief where the traditions continue either way. Being aware of your feelings and what feels good to you is so important! No one can know how you feel unless you share with them. Everyone's grief is unique to the individual. Music & Memories Broadcast for Sunday Nov 3, 2024 Covering the deaths from Nov 3-9, 2024 Good morning and welcome to Music & Memories. This is Linda Sue, and I am the grief specialist at Patton-Schad Funeral Home. It is my pleasure to bring you this week’s program. This program is our way of reaching out to help families deal with those difficult days surrounding the death anniversary of a loved one. Upon entering November we find ourselves looking ahead to the Thanksgiving holiday with anticipation. Our last few days of October can be an example of a common occurrence with your grief, grief bursts. Sleety rain and snow showers occurred without much notice. As with grief bursts, grief bursts are a sudden intense wave of grief that can be triggered by something reminding you of your loved one. It can be a song, a place, a special movie, can be a smell, words or along with pictures; just to name a few. They can also pertain to certain events or holidays. Grief bursts come without any notice and just as fast as it came upon you, it is gone. Grief Bursts are yet another normal physical and emotional occurrence in our lives, just like mother nature with her weather! This program is our way of reaching out to help families deal with those difficult days surrounding the death anniversary of a loved one. By now you've realized that as your world as you knew it has changed with the loss of your loved one; the world around you continues to go on as if nothing has happened. Your grief journey begins a new chapter in your life and as with the seasons your grief will change. There are ways to assist you with your grief as you move into autumn. Accepting your grief is a step forward toward healing. Taking care of yourself now is more important than ever. Find comfort in nature and allow its beauty to surround you. Remembering that grief is normal and natural and give yourself permission to feel those emotions and celebrate with tears of love! Be gentle with you.
