Invitations to listen are sent out to each family we have served about a week before the program airs. But now we are able to post the script for this coming Sunday right here.

Music & Memories Broadcast for Sunday Nov 10, 2024 Covering the deaths from Nov 10-16, 2024 Good morning and welcome to Music & Memories. This is Linda Sue, and I am the grief specialist at Patton-Schad Funeral Home. It is my pleasure to bring you this week’s program. This program is our way of reaching out to help families deal with those difficult days surrounding the death anniversary of a loved one. Upon entering into the first week of November you may be looking ahead to the anticipation of Thanksgiving. A few things to remember as you move ahead on your grief journey is to take care of you! Pay attention to your health; making sure you're getting the right amount of sleep, eating meals and being gentle with you is so important. Depending upon where you are at in your grief; early grief you may want to opt out on the yearly traditions knowing next year you'll be back to a new normal or long-term grief where the traditions continue either way. Being aware of your feelings and what feels good to you is so important! No one can know how you feel unless you share with them. Everyone's grief is unique to the individual. As with our thumbprints, no one has the same print as you. Listen to your inner voice and that will guide you through it all. Music & Memories Broadcast for Sunday Nov 3, 2024 Covering the deaths from Nov 3-9, 2024 Good morning and welcome to Music & Memories. This is Linda Sue, and I am the grief specialist at Patton-Schad Funeral Home. It is my pleasure to bring you this week’s program. This program is our way of reaching out to help families deal with those difficult days surrounding the death anniversary of a loved one. Upon entering November we find ourselves looking ahead to the Thanksgiving holiday with anticipation. Our last few days of October can be an example of a common occurrence with your grief, grief bursts. Sleety rain and snow showers occurred without much notice. As with grief bursts, grief bursts are a sudden intense wave of grief that can be triggered by something reminding you of your loved one. It can be a song, a place, a special movie, can be a smell, words or along with pictures; just to name a few. They can also pertain to certain events or holidays. Grief bursts come without any notice and just as fast as it came upon you, it is gone. Grief Bursts are yet another normal physical and emotional occurrence in our lives, just like mother nature with her weather! This is Linda Sue, and I am the grief specialist at Patton-Schad Funeral Home. It is my pleasure to bring you this week’s program. This program is our way of reaching out to help families deal with those difficult days surrounding the death anniversary of a loved one. Hello October! With October brings holiday anticipations, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Whether you're new to grief or grief has become a comfortable friend, we still try to look ahead to prepare. The fall season prepares us for winter. The shorter days and less sunshine can lead us to feelings of hopelessness and sadness. The changing color of the leaves is a visual reminder of death and loss. Fall is the time of routines, togetherness with family and indoor activities. Make a list of indoor activities you'd like to do once going outside is no longer an option; stocking up on puzzles, books to read, movies to watch or start a memorial project in honor of your loved one. In looking ahead helps us prepare, we still need to take one day at a time to keep our focus and not become overwhelmed. For now; get outside and enjoy the colors! This program is our way of reaching out to help families deal with those difficult days surrounding the death anniversary of a loved one. Autumn. Autumn grief is a reminder of yet again, the seasons changing. As with a loss, we are faced with that "new normal" called change. Autumn weather can bring about feelings of bleakness and sadness. The leaves falling from the trees become a visual reminder that changes in the season are upcoming. Accepting the loss of someone you love isn't easy by all means; but by accepting the loss we are allowed to move forward to the change; the “new normal". Our loved ones are always close at hand, in our hearts and on our minds. They too will move forward with us! Celebrate the new season with love in your heart and a skip to your step! Music & Memories Broadcast for Sunday Sept 8, 2024 Covering the deaths from Sept 8-14, 2024 Good morning and welcome to Music & Memories. This is Linda Sue, and I am the grief specialist at Patton-Schad Funeral Home. It is my pleasure to bring you this week’s program on KASM. This program is our way of reaching out to help families deal with those difficult days surrounding the death anniversary of a loved one. Another holiday has come and gone. There are a few pointers we all should know when it comes to our grief, (grieving the loss of a loved one). Grief is another thing to process in our lives. One can't run away from it. Ignoring your grief only adds to the pain and there will come a day grief will force you to stop and accept. Don't put a time limit on your grief, there are no time limits. Don't compare your pain to others; everyone's grief is their own; very individual. Allow yourself time to feel and remember, don't run away from it. There's more to grief than being sad. You may be feeling relief; they’re no longer in pain, anger; they left too soon; happiness that they were longing to be. Lastly, take care of you! The pain your experiencing will get softer over time but will never really go away.
