Good morning and welcome to Music & Memories.
 
This is Linda Sue, and I am the grief specialist at Patton-Schad Funeral Home. It is my pleasure to bring you this week’s program on KASM. This program is our way of reaching out to help families deal with those difficult days surrounding the death anniversary of a loved one.
 
The month of June greets us with a lot of celebrations. Life is happening all around us! Graduations, anniversaries, birthdays and lots of events to partake in. Somewhere along the line we were taught that "by keeping busy with no time to think, helps our pain?" It is actually the opposite. We have to lean into the pain and experience it, not run from it. As a society we run from silence and being alone. Silence prompts us to remember, honor and helps us feel the emotions we are supposed to feel; not run from them. Get out and join the celebrations of living! Surround yourself with those who love you and take some quiet time for you. You'll be surprised.
