Zachary J. "Zach" Salto, age 15 of Sauk Centre, died Saturday, April 21, 2007 at his home in Sauk Centre.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 26 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Todd Schneider officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Thursday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be at 5:15 p.m. followed by the Christian Mothers at 6 p.m. Wednesday evening.
Zachary Salto was born January 28, 1992 at Scott Air Force Base in Belleville, Illinois to Tim and Steph (Nelson) Salto. Zach was baptized at St. Catherine's Church in Valley City, ND. They moved to the Sauk Centre area in January of 1998. He attended Holy Family School in Sauk Centre through the sixth grade and then attended Sauk Centre Public School from seventh grade to present. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre where he was a mass server and involved in the St. Paul's Youth Group. Zach was an honor roll student who was involved in football, wrestling, and track. He lettered in wrestling and practiced his wrestling moves on his sister, Hannah. Zach enjoyed 4-wheeling, snowmobiling and was an excellent guitar player. Zach will be especially missed by his spring basketball opponent, Hannah. Until we see you again, WE LOVE YOU!!
Survivors include his parents, Tim and Steph Salto of Sauk Centre; sister, Hannah at home; grandparents, Norman and Bonnie Salto of Alexandria, and Lloyd and Donna Nelson of Valley City, ND; great grandparents, Frank and Ruth Hartman of Alexandria and Mary Salto of Alexandria; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Zach was preceded in death by his great grandmothers, Ella Mae Stenzel and Regina Nelson; and great aunt, Lori Harstad.
Serving as casket bearers will be Craig Nelson, Blaine Wheeler, Tom Salto, Jim Nelson, Lloyd Nelson, Jr., and Troy Sogge. Serving as cross bearer will be Johnny Salto and scripture bearer will be Gabe Nelson. Gift bearers will be Chelsey Salto, Ashley Nelson, Michael Pease, and Tyler Sogge. Honorary bearers will be the Wrestling Team and the Ninth Grade Class.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
