William M. "Bill" Sunderman, age 79 of Sauk Centre, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 7, 2013 at CentraCare Health Systems Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 11 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Todd Schneider officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the Sauk Centre United Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre.
William Martin Sunderman was born October 17, 1933 in Melrose Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Paul and Clara (Kluempke) Sunderman. He graduated from Sauk Centre High School in 1952. Bill served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On August 17, 1963 he married Irene Lieser at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. After 38 years, Bill retired from Wonder Bread in 1996. He loved spending time with his family, friends, and anyone he could beat at golf or cards.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church where he ushered for many years, Sauk Centre Country Club, and American Legion Post 67 in Sauk Centre.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Irene Sunderman of Sauk Centre; daughter, Kim (Scott) Ruppert of Eden Prairie; grandchildren, Jake and Nicole Ruppert; sisters, Dorothy "Dutch" (Vic) Wiener of Sauk Centre and Phyllis "Peg" Lenarz of Hibbing; and sisters-in-law, Leora Sunderman of Sauk Centre and Regina "Regie" Sunderman of Sauk Centre.
Bill was preceded in death by parents, Paul and Clara Sunderman; brothers, Gerald "Jack" Sunderman and Kenneth Sunderman; and an infant sister.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
