William F. "Bill" Marty, age 79 of Grey Eagle, died unexpectedly on Monday, March 30, 2015 at his home in Grey Eagle, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 6 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle with Rev. Ronald Dockendorf and Chaplain Jeff Tacker officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery with military honors by the Melrose Veterans Honor Guard.
Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church in Grey Eagle.
William Frank Marty was born February 7, 1936 in Melrose, Minnesota to Frank and Rosella (Meagher) Marty. On October 3, 1964 he married Rita Illies at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Long Prairie. Bill worked at Franklin in St. Cloud for 29 years. During that same time he farmed beef cattle. After his retirement, he joined his wife in taking over the family business, Fyr Fyter (aka Fire Fighter) of Long Prairie and Grey Eagle. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle and served on the Grey Eagle Township Board for many years.
Bill enjoyed his vehicles and tractors, traveling, and visiting with people. He would show off his family photos any chance he could.
Survivors include his son, William "Billy" (Jenni) Marty of Sauk Rapids; daughters-in-law, Stephanie George of Sauk Centre and Heidi Paulson of Fergus Falls; grandsons, Justin George, Henry Marty, and Carter Marty; and granddaughter, Sadie Marty.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rita Marty; sons, Frank and Neil Marty; brothers and sister, Adolph Marty, Agnes Marty, Raymond Marty, and Bernard "Bernie" Marty.
Serving as casket bearers will be Tom "Tu Tone" Meyer, Scott Baum, John Vornbrock, and Loren Rahn.
