Dr. William P. Arndt, age 82 of Sauk Centre, died after a period of ill health Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 21 at the United Methodist Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Lynda Ellis officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Sauk Centre United Veterans Honor Guard with interment in Greenwood Cemetery.
Friends may call Saturday at the church from 12:30 to 2 p.m.
Bill Arndt was born January 20, 1925 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to William and G. Prudence (Gilbertsen) Arndt. He managed the Arndt Hatchery in Long Prairie before serving in the U.S. Army. He served on an Army Air Corps base in Guam during World War II and was also a chaplain's assistant. He then attended Hamline University and Northwestern College of Chiropractic, graduating in 1959. On June 24, 1959 he married Louise Polman at the United Methodist Church in Waite Park. The couple then moved to Sauk Centre and he opened his practice as a chiropractor. He retired in December of 1994.Bill was a member of the United Methodist Church, Paul F. Donart VFW Post 2853, Star in the West Masonic Lodge #60, and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge #34.He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed gardening and woodworking, especially making bird houses. He played many musical instruments and was a member of several area bands.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Arndt of Sauk Centre; daughter, Cheryl (Jeff) Trunnell of Fort Dodge, Iowa; three grandchildren, Jacob, Chad and Erin Trunnell; two sisters, Prudence Johnson of Sauk Centre and Wanda Clough of St. Cloud; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, June Carlson.
Serving as casket bearers will be Craig Johnson, Bob and Barry Clough, Jim and George Pagel, and Kevin Keller. His grandchildren will be honorary bearers.
