Walter Wolf

Walter M. Wolf, age 86 of Sauk Centre, died Monday, April 17, 2006 at Mother of Mercy Nursing Home in Albany, Minnesota.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 21 at Zion Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre for. Rev. Steve Hayden will officiate with interment following in Greenwood Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church.

Walter Wolf was born January 1, 1920 in Rolling Green Township, Martin County, Minnesota to John and Anna (Jagau) Wolf, the youngest of 13 children. During the Depression, he worked at the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) camps for six months and then stayed with his sister and her husband, Sophie and John Walther, before farming on his own. On January 24, 1945 he married Mildred McIntyre at the Zion Lutheran Church parsonage in Sauk Centre.Walter farmed in the Sauk Centre area all of his life and especially enjoyed his family, farming and raising livestock, as well as, playing cards and shooting pool. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Wolf of Sauk Centre; two daughters, Jane (David) Bailey of Sauk Centre and Sharon Gertken of Raeford, North Carolina; son, Gary Wolf of Sauk Centre; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters, Henry, Frank, Ernest, John and Fred Wolf, Emma Billings, Marie Bloom, Sophie Walther and Ann Rutherford.

Serving as casket bearers will be Greg Marthaler, Raymond Walther, Roger Carpenter, Matt Woida, Clarence Hornick and Jim Kinney.
