Walter W. "Walt" Walker, age 94, of Burtrum, died Sunday, September 21, 2008 at the St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 25 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grey Eagle with Rev. Ron Tibbetts officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Grey Eagle.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grey Eagle.
Walter Walker was born April 30, 1914 in Krain Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Clifford and Elizabeth (Bloxham) Walker. On June 28, 1946 he married Alice Jesok. The couple lived in Sauk Centre where they owned and operated Walt's Auto Wrecking. In 1952 they sold the business and moved to Burtrum where they owned and operated Walker Oil. Walt has been in the scrap business since 1955. He enjoyed playing cards, woodworking, dancing, bird watching and had the ability to fix anything with a pair of pliers and a piece of baling wire.
Survivors include his children, David "Sarge" Walker of Grey Eagle, Donna Rech of Grey Eagle, William "Bill" (Marge) Walker of New Brighton, Wally (Doraine) Walker of Burtrum, Delores "Pete" (Ralph) Wolbeck of Burtrum, Bonnie (Marvin) Eggerth of Burtrum and Rick (Anita) Walker of Pillager; 19 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren; sweetheart and dance partner of 8 years, Evelyn "Evie" Adcock of Burtrum.
Walt was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alice Walker on June 3, 1992; son, Walter "Buck" Walker in 2006; daughter, Frances Lene in 2006; grandchildren, Glendon Eggerth, Rhonda Walker, Terry Walker and Larry Walker; brothers, Edward, Alfred and Clarence; sisters, Margaret Yonke and Maime Donat.
Serving as casket bearers will be Neil Wolbeck, Shawn Eggerth, Ricky Walker, Marie Jacobs, Roxanne Pfaff and John Walker.
