Walter C. Rehkamp, age 81 of Melrose, died Saturday, July 25, 2009 at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 29 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Vince Lieser officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Parish prayers will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Walter C. Rehkamp was born January 12, 1928 in Melrose Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Louis and Mary (Oevermann) Rehkamp. He farmed in Melrose Township his entire life. Walter was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose.
Survivors include his sister, Marion (Henry) Tembrock of Elk River; sister-in-law, Jo Rehkamp of Sauk Centre; nieces and nephews, Linda Hunt of Champlin, Sue Tembrock of Maple Grove, Jan Tembrock of Brooklyn Park, Dave (Janelle) Tembrock of Lino Lakes, Carol (Tom) Ervasti of Sauk Rapids, Diane (Gregg) Kyllo of Otsego, and Jim (Joyce) Rehkamp of Albany; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Mary Rehkamp; and brothers, Leander "Lee" Rehkamp and Robert Rehkamp.
Serving as casket bearers will be Jim Rehkamp, Dave Tembrock, Tom Ervasti, Gregg Kyllo, Mike Primus and John Hellermann. Cross bearer will be Linda Hunt and scripture bearer will be Nathan Kyllo.
