Vivian Rose Bohne, age 83 of Sauk Centre, peacefully passed into the arms of her loving Savior on Christmas Day, December 25, 2005 in her daughter's home in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, December 30 at First Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre. Rev. Rebecca Thomas will officiate with interment following in Greenwood Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Friday at the church.

Vivian Rose Walker was born March 12, 1922 to Fred Henry and Lila Belle (Neal) Walker in Sauk Centre, the third of seven children. She graduated from Sauk Centre High School in 1940 and attended nurses' training at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth. During World War II, she supported her father's war plant at the Main Street Chevrolet Garage, served on the War Rationing Board, and provided communication newsletters to the many Sauk Centre soldiers serving abroad.On February 9, 1946 she married Norman Seward Bohne at Zion Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre. Vivian worked in the family businesses from the 1940's through the 1970's, including Main Street Chevrolet, Walker Furniture & Appliance, Bohne Construction Company from 1947 to 1961, and Bohne's Hardware from 1961 to 1973. From the 1940's through the 1970's, Main Street Chevrolet businesses included an ambulance service, taxi, gas station, tow truck service, police dispatch, beer and pop distribution, hotel, Red & White Drive Inn Restaurant, several rental properties, as well as a full service Chevrolet and Oldsmobile dealership. From 1973 until her retirement in 1987, she provided bookkeeping services for Steiner Lumber Company. After Norman's death in 1996, until 2003, Vivian spent the winter months with her daughter and son-in-law in Minot, North Dakota. After they moved to St. Cloud in 2004, she lived with them full time due to her declining health. Even though she suffered for many years with several debilitating and painful diseases, including polymyalgia, fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, heart disease, serious skin cancers, blood clots and ulcers, to name just a few, she managed to maintain a positive and cheerful outlook on life to the end.Vivian was a proud life-long resident of Sauk Centre, involved in many civic and religious activities. She was a past president of the American Legion Post 67 Auxiliary, board member of the Sinclair Lewis Foundation, member of the Minnesota Home School Citizen Advisory Board, former member of Zion Lutheran Church and present member of First Lutheran Church.Vivian was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting until arthritis crippled her hands. She and Norman enjoyed traveling throughout the continent as well as family camping. From 1975 to 1996, Vivian and Norman spent winter months in Arizona, greatly enjoying their gatherings with Sauk Centre friends in the desert. Vivian was a great cook, renowned for her chicken and noodles, baked beans and chow mein! She cherished the many years God gave her with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Vivian was preceded in death by her husband, Norman S. Bohne on September 25, 1996; her parents; her step-mother, Leona Kettelwell Walker; sister, Shirley Walker; five brothers, including Russell, Ray, Henry, Clifford and Charlie Walker; and step-sister, Margaret Hill.

She is survived by her son, David (Sharon) Bohne of Eagan; daughter, Barbara (Ronald) Mahnke of St. Cloud; four grandchildren, Bradley (Anita) Mahnke of West Fargo, North Dakota, Dara (Stephen) Brewer of St. Cloud, Tiffany Bohne and Christopher Bohne, both of Eagan; as well as, four great-grandchildren, Jensen and Mesa Potts of St. Cloud, Keaton and Kenley Mahnke of West Fargo, North Dakota. Other survivors include sisters-in-law, Glenna, Rose and Mux Walker, all of Sauk Centre; step-brother, Jack (Bobbi) Kettelwell of Brooklyn Center; step-sister, Janice (Ray) Quelland of Dallas, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
