Violet O. Gobernatz, age 85 of Grey Eagle, died on Thursday, July 24, 2003 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle. Rev. Arlie Sowada will officiate with interment following in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday and 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Grey Eagle. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. and Christian Mothers will pray at 8 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
Violet Gobernatz was born on November 22, 1917 in Grey Eagle, Minnesota to James and Margaret (Meagher) Bloxham. She was united in marriage to Adam E. Gobernatz on August 1, 1942 in Grey Eagle. Violet lived in the Grey Eagle area most of her life. She lived with her daughter in Bloomington for the last fifteen years. She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Upsala and the Christian Mothers. Violet enjoyed helping with her daughter's daycare, especially fixing lunch and rocking the babies. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing and dancing.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra (Ward) Lillestrand of Bloomington and two granddaughters, Kim Lillestrand and Amy Martens.She was preceded in death by her husband, Adam Gobernatz on May 17, 1991; parents, James and Margaret Bloxham; brothers and sisters, Willie Bloxham, Sarah Peterson, Edna Marty, Clarence and Tom McDermond.
Serving as casket bearers will be Jim, Mike and Greg Harren, Bob Martens, Donald and Lanae McDermond.The cross bearer will be Kim Lillestrand and the scripture bearer will be Amy Martens.
