Viola A. Olmscheid, age 81 of New Munich, died Saturday, January 27, 2007 at Koronis Manor in Paynesville, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 30 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich. Rev. Julius Beckermann, O.S.B. will officiate and Deacon Vern Schmitz will assist. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. St. Leo's Court Catholic Order of Foresters and St. Anne's Christian Mothers will pray at 7 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 8 p.m. Monday evening.

Viola Olmscheid was born March 14, 1925 in Lake Henry, Minnesota to Bernard and Mary (Loecken) Heinen. On June 5, 1951 she married Leo Olmscheid in Melrose, Minnesota. She was a homemaker all her life. Viola enjoyed baking, sewing, shopping, and most of all, spending time with her family. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich, St. Leo's Court Catholic Order of Foresters, and St. Anne's Christian Mothers.

Survivors include her husband, Leo Olmscheid of New Munich; children, Duane Olmscheid and his wife, Connie of Paynesville, Judy Olmscheid of Melrose, Jane Jensen and her husband, Mike of Paynesville, Linda Hess and her husband, Dale of Paynesville, and Roger Olmscheid and his wife, Jackie of Pequot Lakes; 14 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; sister, Lorraine Olmscheid and her husband, Jerome of Lake Henry; and sister-in-law, Florence Heinen of Watkins.

Viola was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Innocent Heinen; sister, Lillian Schmitz; and two infant sisters.

Serving as casket bearers will be Shannon Olmscheid, Ryan Hess, Casey Hess, Brent Jensen, Amber Jensen, and Heidi Jensen. Cross bearer will be Nicholas Olmscheid and scripture bearer will be Samantha Olmscheid. Gift bearers will be Jane Jensen, Judy Olmscheid, and Linda Hess. Readers will be Tonia Zimmer and Angie Anderson. Petitions will be read by Cassandra Olmscheid and Breanna Hess.
