Victor Walter

Victor A. "Vic" Walter, age 93 of Sauk Centre, died Thursday, May 23, 2013 at St. Benedict's Senior Community in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 29 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Todd Schneider officiating. Interment will follow at St. Alexius Cemetery in West Union, Minnesota.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 8 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Victor Anthony Walter was born June 12, 1919 in West Union, Minnesota to Bernard and Sophie (Heiman) Walter. He married Marie Dohman on September 11, 1947 at St. Alexius Catholic Church in West Union. The couple lived and farmed south of West Union, then moved to Sauk Centre in 1970.

Vic worked for Swift and Company, Osakis Silo Company, Farmers Co-op Elevator and then for Holy Family School until he retired in 1985. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church.

Survivors include six children, Barb (Herb) Marthaler of Osakis, Denny (Nona) Walter of Sauk Centre; Jim Walter of Pipestone, Mary Lou (Daniel) Quistorff of Osakis, Sharon Brumbaugh of St. Cloud and Steve (Deb) Walter of Sauk Rapids; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Frances Housen of Sauk Centre.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marie Walter on April 7, 1982; daughter, Diane Walter; brothers, Joseph, Roman and Hubert Walter; sisters, Mathilda Michels, Dorothy Ohotto, Mary "Mayme" Walter and Theresa "Tracy" Winter.

Serving as casket bearers will be Kelly Marthaler, Kyle Walter, Adam Brumbaugh, Aaron Brumbaugh, Andrew Brumbaugh and Jeremy Walter. Cross bearer will be Brittany Langner, scripture bearer will be Kimberly Jenc, lectors will be Candy Ronning and Renee Getz and gift bearers will be Michelle Dunn, Jennifer Ross, Alyssa Brumbaugh and Brianna Walter.
