Veronica B. "Verne" Schlicht, age 98 of Sauk Centre, died Sunday, March 25, 2012 at Getty Street Assisted Living in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 29 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. James Statz officiating. Interment will follow in St. Alexius Cemetery in West Union.

Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the mass at the church in Sauk Centre.

Veronica Bernadette Schulte was born June 28, 1913 in Meire Grove, Minnesota to Clem and Josephine (Macke) Schulte. She lived on the farm until she was eight years old when the family moved to Greenwald. She attended grade school in Meire Grove and Greenwald and graduated from Melrose High School in 1931. She attended teacher training at Sauk Centre and taught at Greenwald for seven years until her marriage to Leo Schlicht of West Union in 1939. Veronica taught for 13 more years, the last four at Holy Family School in Sauk Centre, and retired at age 62. She and Leo spent their retirement fishing, playing cards, and many other activities. When Leo passed away in 1994, she moved to Sauk Centre and lived in Chateau East for one year until Lakeshore Estates was built. She lived there until 2008 and then moved to Getty Street Assisted Living.

Verne was a member of St. Alexius Catholic Church in West Union until moving to Sauk Centre where she joined Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church. She was also a member of St. Anne's Christian Mothers for over 50 years.

Survivors include her children, Richard (Diane) Schlicht of Lakeville, Robert (Debbie) Schlicht of Springfield, Virginia, and Mae (John) Lewis of Bloomington; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brother, Bernard Schulte of Northfield, Minnesota; sisters, Frances Pugh of Silver Spring, Maryland, Bea (John) Sumter of Silver Spring, Maryland, Clara Rudolph of Plymouth, Wisconsin, and Helen Capps of St. Louis, Missouri; and sister-in law, Lorraine Schlicht of Melrose.

Verne was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Schlicht on February 9, 1994; an infant daughter; parents; brothers, Al Schulte, Ed Schulte, Clarence Schulte, and Herbert Schulte.
