Verona C. Meyer, age 83 of Meire Grove, died on Tuesday, February 3, 2004 at Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 6 at St. John's Catholic Church in Meire Grove. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday from 4:30 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. St. John's Catholic Aid, St. Mary's Society, Holy Rosary and Mission Group will pray at 7 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home in Melrose.
Verona Meyer was born on January 22, 1921 in Melrose, Minnesota to Anthony and Clothilda (Wander) Primus. She was a graduate of Melrose High School. Verona married Erwin A. Meyer on June 30, 1941 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Melrose. She was employed by Gambels/Skogmo Hardware of Melrose and enjoyed many happy years at Al's Red Owl and Ernie's IGA. Verona had resided at Pine Villa Care Center for the past 2 ó years.She enjoyed cards, quilting, embroidery, crocheting, gardening, ceramics, and watching football and baseball. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, St. John's Catholic Aid, St. Mary's Society, Holy Rosary and Mission Group.
She is survived by her children, Dennis Meyer (Lola) of Chaska, Alain Kolb (Tom) of Milaca, Merle Meyer (Marilyn) of Danbury, Wisconsin, Terry Meyer (Jan) of Circle Pines, Chuck Meyer (Donna) of Weatherford, Texas, Joyce Schwinghammer (Dave) of Belgrade, and Deb Klaphake (Rick) of Melrose; 23 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Brother George Primus, OSB of Collegeville, Jim Primus (Bernice) of Melrose, Mary Ann Hinnerichs (Howard) of St. Paul, and Sister Colette Primus, OSB of St. Benedicts, St. Joseph.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Erwin A. Meyer on July 10, 1999; infant children, Marie and Joseph Meyer; brothers and sisters, Don and Leroy Primus, Lorraine Revermann, and Mae Rose Baltes Heieie; 2 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
Casket bearers will be Dennis Meyer, Jr., Lisa Newgard, Paul Meyer, Michael Meyer, Darin Schwinghammer, Autum Helmin, Therese Thull and Cyndi Eckart. Cross bearer will be Jordan Schwinghammer and scripture bearer will be Steven Newgard. Honorary bearers will be Verona's grandchildren and St. John's Mission Group.
Memorials are preferred to St. John's Catholic School or Pine Villa Care Center.
