Vernon J. Berscheit, age 72, of Staples, formerly of Grey Eagle, died Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at the Lakewood Health Systems Hospital in Staples.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, October 8, 2005 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle with Rev. Arlie Sowada officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 10:30 to 11:30 am Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle.
Vernon Berscheit was born December 8, 1932 on the farm home in Grey Eagle to Peter and Pauline (Hessing) Berscheit. He attended Grey Eagle Public School and spent most of his life on the family farm north of Grey Eagle. He enjoyed fishing and trapping gophers. He was an enthusiastic fan of all Grey Eagle High School Sports activities and walked to all the games which were played at the local school. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Grey Eagle Senior Citizens. Vernon enjoyed music, especially Dean Martin songs. For the past six years he has been a resident of the Mary Rondorf Home in Staples.
Vernon is survived by many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Peter on December 17, 1963; mother, Pauline on November 3, 1959; and brothers, Harold on September 24, 1978 and Leon on December 20, 1982.
Serving as casket bearers will be Jeff Rohde, Dan Berscheid, David Berscheit, Peter Berscheit, Tom Berscheit, and Al Roe. Cross bearer will be Lester Berscheit and scripture bearer will be Dorothy Berscheit.
