Valeria M. “Val” Peters, age 91 of Sauk Centre, died peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Fairway Pines Assisted Living in Sauk Centre, Minnesota
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 29 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Greg Paffel officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Sauk Centre.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and 10 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Parish prayers will be at 5:15 p.m. followed by the Christian Mothers at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Valeria Mary Peters was born June 5, 1931 in Lake George Township, Stearns County to Frank and Frances (Meyer) Weber. She married Robert Peters on September 27, 1955 at St. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church in Elrosa. The couple farmed in the Sauk Centre area until 1994 when they retired and moved to town.
Val was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, Homemaker Club, Birthday Club and the Ladies VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, playing cards, getting together with the members of the birthday and homemakers clubs, playing bingo with the grandchildren and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children, Barb (Denny) Honzay of Olivia, Bev (Larry) Hoppe of Osakis, Mike (Deb) Peters of Avon, and Ann (Paul) Novotny of Greenfield; grandchildren, Mark (Alysia), Laura, Sarah, and Jacob Honzay, Mathew, Karla (Fiancé Adam), and Aaron (Brittany) Hoppe, Derek Peters, Andrew and Leah Novotny; great-grandchildren, Will and Kate Honzay; siblings, Delores Orth, John Weber, Marie Stang, and Eugene Weber; and other in-laws.
Val was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Peters; parents; infant children, Mary and Joseph; brother, Art Weber; several brothers and sisters-in-laws and nieces and nephews.
Serving as casket bearers will be Val's grandsons, Mathew Hoppe, Mark Honzay, Aaron Hoppe, Jacob Honzay, Andrew Novotny, and Derek Peters. Cross bearer will be granddaughter, Karla Hoppe and scripture bearer will be granddaughter, Laura Honzay. Gift bearers will be granddaughters, Sarah Honzay and Leah Novotny. Honorary bearers will be the Birthday and the Homemakers clubs.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
