Valeria Funk

Valeria B. (Boecker) Funk, age 81 of New Munich, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, December 5, 2008 in Pine Haven at the Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich with Rev. Roger Klassen, OSB officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Parish prayers will be held at 5 p.m. followed by Saint Anne's Christian Women and the Daughters of Isabella at 7 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.

Valeria B. Funk was born December 29, 1926 in Millwood Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Bernard and Frances (Stoerman) Boecker. On May 21, 1946 she was united in marriage to Norbert Funk at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church in St. Rosa, Minnesota. The couple moved southwest of New Munich and farmed until retiring in 1985.She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich, Saint Anne's Christian Women, and the Daughters of Isabella. Valeria enjoyed quilting, flower gardening, bowling, baking pie, and most of all, her family.

Survivors include her husband, Norbert Funk of New Munich; children, Cecilia Humbert of Melrose, John (Dorothy) Funk of New Munich, Robert (Carolyn) Funk of New Hope, Sylvia (Michael) Nelson of Lino Lakes, Allan (Carla) Funk of Eagan, Laura (Gordy) Roy of St. Cloud, and Bruce (Jan) Funk of New Munich; 20 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Theresa Tschida of Grey Eagle and Anna Herickhoff of Elrosa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Paul, Norbert, and Lawrence Boecker; sisters, Marie Robideaux and Agnes Beste; and 2 great-grandchildren.

Serving as casket bearers will be Eric and Ryan Humbert, Paul Nelson, Greg, Jeff, and Karl Funk. Scripture bearer will be Mitchell Funk and cross bearer will be Emily Funk.
