Thomas L. "Tom" Seanger, age 67, of Melrose, died after a short courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 surrounded by his family at the CentraCare Health Hospital in Melrose, Minnesota.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 12 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Marvin Enneking, Rev. Vincent Lieser, and Rev. Ken Thielman concelebrating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 8 to 10:30 a.m. at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Thomas Leo Seanger was born September 25, 1946 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Albert and Janet (Kutzera) Seanger. On August 12, 1967 he married Patricia Schulzetenberg at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Greenwald. Tom owned and operated Melrose Electric with his wife, Pat, from 1972 until retirement in 2010 and then passed it on to his sons. He continued to enjoy helping out at the business during retirement. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose, Knights of Columbus Council #1633, Melrose Lions Club, a member of the Minnesota Electrical Association, and served on the Minnesota State Board of Electricity.

Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap and skeet shooting, traveling, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Pat Seanger of Melrose; children, Toni Seanger of Burnsville, Eric (Jen) Seanger of Melrose, Jason (Elisha) Seanger of Melrose, and Julie (Jeremy) Olmscheid of Albany; ten grandchildren; sister and brothers, Carol Hetu of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Bob (Rose) Seanger of St. Cloud, and Ken (Celeste) Seanger of St. Cloud.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; son and daughter-in-law, Jamie and Brenda Seanger; grandson, Josh Mollner; brother, Phillip Seanger; brothers-in-law, Ron Hetu and Rick Schulzetenberg; father and mother-in-law, Lee and Betty Schulzetenberg.

Casket bearers will be John Lang, Nicholas Seanger, Mike Matchinsky, John Voit, Stacy Keller, Cory Ellering, and Wade Olson. Cross bearer will be Sarah Poegel and scripture bearer will be Britt Seanger. Gift bearers will be Ken Seanger and Kim Zupan. Readers will be Elisha Seanger and Kathy Haider. Eucharistic Ministers will be Gary Haider, Ruth Traeger, Sandi Schulzetenberg, and Donna Sand. Honorary bearers will be the Gin Rummy Card Group.
