Thomas R. Nelson, age 79, of Sauk Centre died Friday, September 1, 2006 surrounded by his family at the Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at United Methodist Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Lynda Ellis officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Vesta Cemetery, Vesta, Minnesota.
Thomas Nelson was born on May 23, 1927 in Lucan, Minnesota to Ernest and Hazel (Klante) Nelson. He was united in marriage to Faye (Froelich) Nelson on June 11, 1949 at the Methodist Church in Tracy, Minnesota. Their first home was in Minneota where they lived for 3 years. After that, they moved to New Brighton for a number of years. Tom, Faye and Keith then moved to Lakeville where they resided for 23 years. In 2000 the couple moved to Sauk Centre. After Faye passed away, Thomas moved to Brooklyn Center in 2005 to be close to his son. Thomas loved dogs, bird watching and fishing.Thomas was a member of the United Methodist Church of Sauk Centre, Faith United Methodist Church in Farmington, American Legion Post 67 of Sauk Centre, Paul F. Donart VFW Post 2853 of Sauk Centre, and 4031 Fraternal Order of Eagles of Farmington.
He is survived by his son, Keith T. Nelson (Jamie) and grandson, Blake T. Nelson of Elk River; brother, Denis Klante (Beverly) of Spokane, Washington; and sister, Dixie Stovern (Ronald) of Minnetonka.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Nelson on March 9, 2004; parents, Ernest and Hazel (Klante) Nelson; step-mother, Marie Nelson; and brother, Arden Klante.
