Dr. Thomas "Tom" Ferry, age 49 of Sauk Centre, formerly of St. Louis Park, died Monday, June 22, 2015 at the St. Cloud Hospital in Minnesota after a five-year battle with stage 4 colon cancer.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 25 at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, June 26 at the church. Parish prayers will be at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 26 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Greg Paffel officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
Thomas Patrick Ferry was born September 23, 1965 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Joseph and Lois (Narloch) Ferry. He was raised in St. Louis Park and was a 1984 graduate of St. Louis Park High School. He received his bachelor's degree from Carleton College in Northfield. After graduation from the University of Minnesota Medical School he completed his residency in Waseca in 1997. Dr. Ferry was the lead physician at the Allina Health Clinic in Woodbury and then practiced at the Fairview Clinic in Zimmerman. Since 2009 he had been the chief of staff and family medicine practitioner specializing in obstetrics at CentraCare Health in Long Prairie. He was a member of the American Academy of Family Practitioners and St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre.
Tom looked forward to hunting season when he could spend time outdoors hunting deer, ducks, and pheasants. He also enjoyed fishing, both in the summer and winter ice fishing. But he really loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Michelle Ferry of Sauk Centre; children, Elijah Haag, Olivia Haag, Mason Ferry, and Thomas Ferry, Jr., all at home; Kassandra Ferry, Ashley Ferry, Matthew Ferry, and Timothy Ferry; his parents, Joseph and Lois Ferry of St. Louis Park; sister, Annette (Greg) Shively of Edina and their children, Murphy and Elliot; father and mother-in-law, George and Marion Hahn of St. Paul; brother-in-law, Steven (Nicole) Hahn of North St. Paul and their children, Noah and Sofie.
Serving as casket bearers will be Jeff May, Eric Miller, Steve Weiby, Eli Haag, Tom Schnell, Jim Bergmann, Steve Hahn, and Bill Walker. Cross bearer will be Elliot Shively and scripture bearer will be Murphy Shively.
