Theresa "Tracy" Winter, age 92 of Sauk Centre, died peacefully surrounded by her family Thursday, May 7, 2009 at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, May 11 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Rev. Todd Schneider will officiate with interment following in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Monday at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Sauk Centre Seniors will pray at 4 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 5:15 p.m. and Christian Mothers and St. Theresa's Mission Group at 7 p.m. Sunday evening at the church.
Theresa "Tracy" Walter was born May 10, 1916 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to Bernard and Sophie (Heimann) Walter. On November 18, 1941 she married Raymond Winter at St. Alexius Catholic Church in West Union. The couple farmed in Birchdale Township, Todd County, Minnesota until Raymond's death in 1974. She moved to Sauk Centre in 1976. She had been employed as a dietary aid at St. Michael's Hospital for 17 years before retiring in 1982. For the past two years she had resided at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre.Tracy was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, St. Theresa's Mission Group, and Sauk Centre Seniors. She enjoyed quilting, baking, playing cards, attending auctions, garage sales, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include ten children, Charlene (Tom) Theis of Denver, Colorado, Kenneth Winter of Old Naches, Washington, Mary (Kevin) Graser of Huxley, Iowa, Ron (Carol) Winter of Melrose, Paulette Winter of Danville, Virginia, Sandra (Brad) Vogt of Ramsey, Tom (Cheryl) Winter and Kevin (Sandy) Winter, all of Sauk Centre, Ray (Nancy) Winter of Elk River, and Vincent (Diane) Winter of Sauk Centre; 27 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; brother and sister, Vic Walter and Frances Housen, both of Sauk Centre.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond Winter on July 26, 1974; son, Robert Winter; daughter, Ruth Ann Winter; sisters, Mayme Walter, Mathilda Michels and Dorothy O'Hotto; brothers, Joseph, Roman, and Hubert Walter; two grandchildren, Tiffany and Nathan Winter; one great-grandson, Joseph Mayers.
Serving as casket bearers will be Christopher, Keith, and Lyle Winter, Thomas Theis, Jr., Scott Theis, and Jason Wensmann. Honorary bearers will be Shirley Vait, Frances Housen, Marie Bosl, and Lorraine Ettel. Cross bearer will be Katie Winter, scripture bearer will be Kellie Winter, lectors will be Michelle Winter and Nancy Guertz, and gift bearers will be Nikki Irvine, Jodi Wensmann, and Shawn Thull.
