Theodore V. "Ted" Koehn, age 91 of Long Prairie, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at the CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 13 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Melrose with Rev. Marty Porter officiating. Interment will be at Redeemer Lutheran Cemetery in Dresden, North Dakota on Saturday, December 16 at 2 p.m.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church in Melrose.
Theodore Victor Koehn was born on his grandfather's homestead farm on June 30, 1926 in Dresden, North Dakota to William A. and Magdalena (Hahn) Koehn. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Dresden. He married Doris Klein on June 27, 1953 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Albany. After their marriage, the couple farmed cattle and grain on the Koehn Family farm in Dresden, North Dakota until 1979. In 1976, they moved to Long Prairie and started a dairy farm while still farming the family farm in North Dakota until 1979. Their son, Jeff took over the Long Prairie family farm in 1991. Ted continued helping on the farm for many years. He was a former member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Upsala and a current member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Melrose.
Ted enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and traveling in their camper; visiting many states. He also enjoyed tinkering in his shop. He could put anything together and make it into something useable.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Koehn of Long Prairie; sons, Jerome (Missy) Koehn and Jeff Koehn all of Long Prairie; daughter, Nancy (Dan "Bubba") Rahn of Grey Eagle; grandchildren, Josh (Tonie) and Tyler Koehn (special friend, Vonnie Torres), and Nathan and Amber Rahn; special great-granddaughter, Alexis Wilson; sister, Gladys Koehn of Yankton, South Dakota; and many nieces and nephews.
Ted was preceded in death by his son, James "Jim" Koehn on April 19, 2015; sisters, brother, and in-laws, Katherine (Julius) Thon, Hildegard (John) Schilds, Otelia (Neil) Hoxsie, and William C. (Ruth) Koehn.
Serving as casket bearers will be Josh Koehn, Tonie Koehn, Tyler Koehn, Vonnie Torres, Nathan Rahn, and Amber Rahn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
