Thelma R. Sills, age 78 of Sauk Centre, formerly of Elkville, Illinois, died Saturday, July 21, 2007 at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota following a short battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 25 at First United Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. James Clausen officiating.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church in Sauk Centre.Visitation will continue at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin, Illinois from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, July 27 followed by graveside services at the De Soto Cemetery in De Soto, Illinois.
Thelma Sills was born December 1, 1928 in Sand Ridge, Illinois to Peter and Callie (Hunt) Bartlow. On March 25, 1944 she married Earl Sills in Marion, Illinois. She moved to Sauk Centre to be closer to her son, Tom and his family, in March of 2002, where she resided at Riverview Manor. For the past four months she had resided at St. Michael's Nursing Home.Thelma enjoyed making crafts and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her son, Thomas (Dorothy) Sills of Sauk Centre; grandchildren, Johnny (Janelle) Sills of Blaine and Wendy (Jeff) Middendorf of Sauk Centre; four great-grandchildren, Austin and Maddie Sue Middendorf, Jesse and Casey Sills.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl Sills on July 25, 2001; and son, Harold Ray Sills on November 24, 2005.
Serving as casket bearers will be Johnny and Janelle Sills, Wendy and Jeff Middendorf, Amy and Kurt Middendorf, Roger Turnbough, Eugene Sills, and Robert Sheer.
