Terrance Kennedy

Terrance D. "Ted" Kennedy, age 89, of Fargo, ND, died Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Villa Maria Nursing Home in Fargo, ND.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 14 at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose with Rev. Vince Lieser officiating. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Melrose with military honors provided by the Melrose Veterans Honor Guard.

Friends may call from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home in Melrose.Terrance Donald Kennedy was born February 8, 1921 in Melrose, MN to James and Mary (Tracey) Kennedy. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1942 to1945 as a radioman for USS Hopewell. After the military, he returned to MN and worked various jobs including Ottertail Power until 1951. He then worked for Northwestern Bell as manager of federal accounts for 32 years until his retirement on December 30, 1983. He was a member of the Fargo Disabled American Veterans and a former member of the Schanhaar-Otte VFW Post 7050 of Melrose.Ted was an avid golfer who could be seen at the local golf course on any given day. His other hobbies included wood carving, ballroom dancing, and attending his granddaughters sporting events.

Survivors include his daughter, Mary Otterson and her husband, Ray of Kindred, ND; granddaughters, Lauren, Jacey and Sydney Otterson all at home.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents; son, Patrick James Kennedy; brothers, Richard, Ed, Tom, and John Kennedy; sisters, Mayme Hopkins, Dorothy Marchewitz, Marguerite Harmon and Cecelia Vermeesch.
