Sherwin R. "Herm" Tschida, age 45 of St. Francis, Stearns County, died tragically on Wednesday, February 9 after injuries sustained from an automobile accident.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 15 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Upsala with Rev. Mike Kellogg officiating. Interment will be in St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in St. Francis.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Upsala. A rosary will be held at 6 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7 p.m. Monday evening at the church.Sherwin Roderick Tschida was born December 4, 1965 in Melrose, Minnesota to Victor and Beatrice (Douvier) Tschida. He married Dawn Muellner on October 30, 1999 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle. Herm ran his father's farm for a number of years. He then worked at Schaefer's Market in Sauk Centre from 1994 through 2008 and was commonly referred to as "The Meat Man". In the fall of 2008, he started his own meat processing business called Herm's Country Meats in St. Francis.
He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in St. Francis. He was an outdoor enthusiast who loved hunting, fishing, and camping. Herm truly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Dawn Tschida of St. Francis; parents, Victor and Beatrice Tschida of Melrose; brothers and sisters, Sylvester "Ves" (Ellie) Tschida of Upsala, Sue (Dan) Harren of Melrose, Steve (Linda) Tschida of Melrose, Sam (Carol) Tschida of Avon, Sandy (Charlie) Boeckermann of St. Francis, Stan (Cindy) Tschida of Albany, Scott (Lois) Tschida of Melrose, Shawn Tschida of Albany, Stewart (Amy) Tschida of Melrose, and Sheldon (Karla) Tschida of Freeport; Herm's dog, Shelby; and many other relatives and friends.
Herm was preceded in death by his grandparents, Herman and Mary Tschida and Frank and Rose Douvier.
Serving as casket bearers will be Scott Tschida, Shawn Tschida, Sam Tschida, Ves Tschida, Stan Tschida, Sheldon Tschida, Stewart Tschida, Ron Ostendorf, and Mike Sunder. Cross bearer will be Ashley Tschida and scripture bearer will be Jordan Tschida. Honorary bearers will be Tom Gerads, Jim Herdering, Jeff Herdering, Kevin Muellner, Glenn Boeckermann, Brian Boeckermann, Steve Boeckermann, and Paul Boeckermann.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
