Selma Wright, age 99 of Grey Eagle, died Saturday, October 3, 2009 at the Maple Manor Nursing Home in Rochester, Minnesota.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 9 at Grey Eagle United Methodist Church in Grey Eagle with Rev. Gary Taylor officiating. Inurnment will be in Lakeview cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Grey Eagle United Methodist Church.
Selma Holland was born May 19, 1910 in Norway to Sivert and Ingeborg (Fuglastad) Holland. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis. On August 30, 1935 she married Wilson Wright in Minneapolis. Selma worked at General Hospital in Minneapolis, now known as the Hennepin County Medical Center. In 1948, Selma and Wilson purchased the Nestle Inn on Big Birch Lake, which they owned and operated for 40 years.
Selma was a member of Grey Eagle United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, and knitting.
Survivors include her children, Elaine (Bernard) Gerdts of Grey Eagle, and Walter (Phyllis) Wright of Rochester; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and many other loving relatives and friends.
Selma was preceded in death by her parents, Sivert and Ingeborg Holland; husband, Wilson Wright in April of 1990; brothers, Henry, Emil, Edward, and Sam Holland; and sisters, Emma Hetland, Inga Westman, and Ida Enger.
