Selma A. Tschida, age 91, of Meire Grove, died Saturday, April 25, 2009 at the St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 28 at St. John's Catholic Church in Meire Grove with Rev. Tom Becker officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. St. Mary's Society, Poor Soul's Society, and Holy Rosary Society will pray at 6 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7 p.m. Monday evening.
Selma Wehlage was born September 9, 1917 in Meire Grove to Joseph and Anna (Petermeier) Wehlage. On June 9, 1941 she married Roman Tschida at St. John's Catholic Church in Meire Grove. Selma was a housewife who lived with her husband on the farm in Getty Township. In 1979 they retired and moved to Meire Grove.
She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Meire Grove, St. Mary's Society, Poor Soul's Society, Holy Rosary Society, and The Catholic Aid Association. Selma enjoyed gardening, flowers, quilting, crocheting, and her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughters, Arliss Hinnenkamp of Upsala and Jo Ann (Myron) Reiman of Melrose; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Jean Wehlage of Pierz and Emma Voit of Albany.
Selma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roman Tschida on February 27, 1995; two infant sons; brothers, Henry, Norbert, and Edmund.
Serving as casket bearers will be Chris Reiman, John Reiman, Jeff Moonen, Tim Hinnenkamp, Joel Hinnenkamp, and Troy Gerads. Cross bearer will be Angie Tschida and scripture bearer will be Jodi Hinnenkamp. Gift bearers will be Shawna Moonen, Doug Hinnenkamp, and Mandi Nelson. Readers will be Joe Tschida and Jessica Hinnenkamp.
