Selma H. Stalboerger, age 90 of Melrose, formerly of Elrosa, died peacefully surrounded by her family Saturday, June 16, 2007 at Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 19 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa. Rev. Jeff Ethen will officiate with interment following in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday and 8 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be at 6 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
Selma Stalboerger was born November 25, 1916 in Meire Grove, Minnesota to Joseph and Anna (Kampsen) Eibensteiner. On October 21, 1935 she married Edmund J. Stalboerger at St. John's Catholic Church in Meire Grove. She worked hard with her husband, Edmund, as they farmed in Meire Grove, Padua and Elrosa from 1947 until they retired in 1976. They moved to Elrosa in 1976. She also worked as a nurses aid at the Belgrade Nursing Home for ten years. Since May of 1995 she had resided at Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose. Her family would like to say special thanks to the dedicated staff at Pine Villa for the wonderful care they provided to Selma.Selma was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa and the Christian Mothers. She raised a large family, enjoyed her grandchildren and gardening.
Survivors include eight children, Stanley (Evelyn) Stalboerger of Elrosa, Pat Seitz of Plymouth, Irene (Bob) Braun of Melrose, Marilyn (John) Schoenberg of Greenwald, Sharon (Daniel) Hemiadan of Plymouth, Ramona Stalboerger of Sauk Centre, Barb (John) Barten of Delano, and Roxane (Gene) Kampsen of Belgrade; 30 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Hilda Petermeier of Melrose, Sr. LaVonne Eibensteiner, OSB of St. Cloud, Werner (Lucille) Eibensteiner of Albany, and Br. Gregory Eibensteiner, OSB of Collegeville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edmund J. Stalboerger on February 7, 1992; son, David Stalboerger in 1947, and infant son; sisters, Mildred Welle, Florentine Walz, Freida Winter, Elsie Felling, Leona Bentfield, Rita Stalboerger, and two infant sisters; brother, Hugo Eibensteiner; son-in-law, Dennis Seitz; and three great-grandchildren.
Serving as casket bearers will be Mike Stalboerger, Jim Braun, Jamil Hemiadan, Nathan Barten, Doug Schoenberg, and Mike Seitz with Angie Kulzer serving as cross bearer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Activities Dept. of Pine Villa Care Center.
