Ruth B. Kuhlmann, age 95 of Melrose, died Monday, October 22, 2012 at her residence in Wyoming, Minnesota.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 10 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Marvin Enneking officiating. An inurnment will be held at a later date in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Ruth Bernadette Kuhl was born February 13, 1917 in Galena, Illinois to Frank and Edith (Lowling) Kuhl. After graduating from the Immaculate Conception Academy in Dubuque, Iowa, she moved to Minneapolis and worked in cosmetics at Donaldson's Department Store. She married her husband, Edwin, in 1950 and relocated to Melrose. Ruth and Eddie took over the Zuercher Drug Store in 1953, working side by side until his death in 1993. Ruth loved running her store and having conversations with friends and customers that came through the door. She retired after 50 years in business and spent her remaining years enjoying nature, family and friends.
Ruth was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose and the Christian Mothers.
Survivors include her children, Paul (Leann) Kuhlmann of St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, and Edith 'Edie' (Kirk Bowman) Kuhlmann of Saratoga, California; and three grandchildren, Mackenzy Kuhlmann, Nicole Bowman, and Matthew Bowman.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Kuhlmann on October 31, 1993; parents; son, August Kuhlmann; infant son, Charles Kuhlmann; brothers, Frank Kuhl, Albert Kuhl, Marcellus Kuhl, and Irenus 'Ike' Kuhl; and sisters, Mary Stecker, Angela McFarland, and Rosalie Wertzberger.
