Ruth M. Dougherty, age 84 of Sauk Centre, died Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 1 at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Rev. James Clausen will officiate. Interment will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home two hours prior to the service.
Ruth Marian Langmo was born April 22, 1925 in Estherville, Iowa to Oliver and Regina (Boekle) Langmo. After graduating high school, Ruth attended a three year nursing program in Minneapolis. On March 18, 1945 she married LeRoy S. Dougherty. Ruth was proud of her nursing degree and worked as a Registered Nurse in the Moorhead area, Melrose and in Sauk Centre. The couple settled down in Sauk Centre in 1988. In 2009, Ruth moved to St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre.Ruth was a member of First United Church of Christ, Sauk Centre. She enjoyed yard work, sewing, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her three children, Philip Dougherty of Sauk Centre, Michael (Judy) Dougherty of Seattle, Washington, and Susan (Bryan) Van Gorp of Rushford; four grandchildren, Kevin Dougherty, Bridget Dougherty, Joshua (Sarah) Trisko, and Elsa Van Gorp; three great-grandchildren, Chance Dougherty, and Ashton and Kayle Trisko.
She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy on October 31, 1994; parents; brothers, Elwin, Robert, and Clayton Langmo.
