Ruth E. Crosby, age 82 of Sauk Centre, died Monday, November 7, 2011 at the Glen Oaks Care Center in New London, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, November 11 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Todd Schneider officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Kilkenny, Minnesota.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at the church. Parish prayers will be held at 5:15 p.m. followed by the Christian Mothers and St. Theresa's Mission Group at 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Ruth Elaine Dobes was born February 21, 1929 in New Prague, Minnesota to Emil and Rose (Kral) Dobes. She graduated from Montgomery High School in 1947. On April 20, 1948 she married Francis "Fran" Crosby at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. The couple made their home in the Kilkenny area until 1963 when they moved to Faribault. In 1970, they moved to Sauk Centre and purchased the Corner Bar where Ruth would help with the daily operations of the business. Ruth also worked in the house keeping department at St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre.

She was a member and sacristan of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre, Christian Mothers, St. Theresa's Mission Group, the Kilkenny American Legion Auxiliary, and was part of the Befriender Ministry.

Survivors include her daughters, Connie (Robert E.) Hodapp of Spicer and Susan Crosby (Stewart Smith) of Winnipeg, Manitoba; granddaughters, Julie (Chris) Hodapp-Macaulay of Seattle, Washington and Lisa (Jimmy) Hodapp-Balch of Seattle, Washington; and many nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Crosby on December 30, 1993; parents; and sisters, Lorraine Hackett and Evelyn Minge.

Serving as casket bearers will be Robert E. Hodapp, Stewart Smith, Richard Hackett, Lisa Hodapp-Balch, Julie Hodapp-Macaulay, and Frank Ironi. Cross bearer will be Judy Crosby Claffey and scripture bearer will be Mary Sheridan.In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association or Rice Memorial Hospice in Willmar.
