Ruth I. Blasig, age 95 of Sauk Centre, died Friday, August 12, 2005 at Riverview Manor in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 15 at Zion Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Steve Hayden officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 16 at North Lawn Cemetery in Fort Dodge, Iowa with Rev. Kevin Johnson officiating.
Friends may call at the church on Monday one hour prior to the service.
Ruth Blasig was born March 23, 1910 at Arapahoe, Nebraska to Rev. H.E. and Ida (Brauer) Meyer. She received her early education in the parochial school near Gresham, Nebraska, graduated from Gresham High School and later attended North Texas State University in Denton, Texas. On June 11, 1933 she married John Blasig in Gresham, Nebraska. They lived in Thayer, Kearney, Beatrice, and then in Columbus, Nebraska where Ruth was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. She also belonged to CFFC and the church card club. Ruth worked at Dale Electronics in Columbus for 17 years until her retirement. Following an illness she moved to Sauk Centre in 2002 where she was currently residing at Riverview Manor.
Survivors include one daughter, Edith Heyerhoff of Fort Dodge, Iowa; three sons, Roland of Sauk Centre; Gerald of Murray, Nebraska; and Roy of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two sisters, Helen Fritz of North Tonawanda, New York; and Gertrude Klausmeier of Evansville, Indiana; one brother, Rev. Henry Meyer of Spokane, Washington; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John, on December 17, 1995; two sisters, Ida Meyer and Sally Schlensker; and four brothers, Rev. Herman Meyer, Rev. William Meyer, Rev. Albert Meyer and Rev. John Meyer.
