RoseMary Bentley was born January 19, 1940 in Glenwood, Minnesota to Ellsworth and Agnes (Svoboda) Bentley. On March 2, 1957 she was united in marriage to Ervin Dettler at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Swanville, Minnesota. Rosie worked for the Belgrade Nursing Home but later shifted to the Belgrade Tribune to assist Erv with new business. When they moved to Melrose, she continued using the linotype skills at the Melrose Beacon. After just a couple years, Rosie took a job at Jennie-O Foods in cut up and stayed with them for 32 years. She had many great memories of turkey fights, cigarette breaks, and crazy friends. After retirement, she couldn't sit still very long and started a part time job as a cafeteria lady for the Melrose school system.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Melrose and the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. Rosie enjoyed painting ceramics, playing cards with Erv, gaming at the casino, playing with her grandkids, black Friday at Fleet Farm, and having just one more cigarette.
