Rose Walker, age 92 of Sauk Centre, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, March 18 at the St. Benedict Senior Community in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Greg Paffel officiating. Interment will be at St. Paul's Cemetery in Sauk Centre.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and from 10 to 12 p.m. Tuesday at the church in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be at 4 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Rose Walker was born November 10, 1923 near Padua, Minnesota to Michael and Anna (Rousslange) Essler. Rose grew up on the farm and went to Getty Grove Country School until the 8th grade. She married Henry J. Walker on February 8, 1945 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. While Henry was in the service, Rose moved to Oregon and worked in the shipyards. After the service the couple moved back to Sauk Centre where they raised their 3 children. Rose was a great cook and was famous for her Walker family chicken and noodles. She also was a wonderful baker and enjoyed sharing her baked goods with others. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She liked to go shopping and to garage sales in the local community. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and the family dachshund, Chipper. She liked to find new prayers for special family meals. Everyone loved her smile and her laugh. She will be missed by many.

She was member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Sauk Centre Paul F. Donart VFW Post 2853 Auxiliary, and Christian Mothers.

Survivors include her children, Gary Walker of Sauk Centre, Sharon (Bill) Kemp of St. Cloud, and Tom Walker of Melrose; brother, Felix (Judy) Essler of Kenmare, ND; sister, Anna Mae Haskamp of Sauk Centre; and 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry J. Walker on February 20, 1994; brothers, Aloys, Henry, and Don Essler; and sisters, Veronica "Fronie" Ripka, Kathryn Borgmann, Marie Welters, and Yvonne Ahles.

Serving as casket bearers will be Rich Essler, Jim Welters, Barry Walker, Jerry Gruber, John Haskamp, and David Bohne. Cross bearer will be Heather Walker. Gift bearers will be Michelle Anderson, Heather Walker, Steve Kemp

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
