Rose M. Meyer age 87 of Freeport died Thursday, September 15, 2005 at Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 19 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport with Rev. Roger Klassen, OSB officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday from 3 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport. Golden Years Senior Citizens, Christian Mothers and Sacred Heart Catholic Aid Society will pray at 4 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening.
Rose Meyer was born March 2, 1918 in New Munich, Minnesota to Henry and Pauline (Leukam) Schulzetenberg. She was united in marriage to Norbert H. Meyer on May 13, 1941 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich. The couple farmed north of Freeport from 1941 until 1976 when they retired and moved to Freeport. She was employed as a nursing assistant at Mother of Mercy Nursing Home for nine years. Rose expressed her creative talents for decades as a seamstress and quilt maker. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport, Golden Years Senior Citizens, Christian Mothers and Sacred Heart Catholic Aid Society.
Survivors include her children, Ronald Meyer (Sandy Cooper) of Woodbury, Gary Meyer (Judy) of Freeport, Ken Meyer (Joanne) of Trafford, PA, Karen Molitor (Charles) of Melrose, Lee Meyer (Ron Warnert) of St. Cloud and Pat Meyer of St. Cloud; grandchildren, Steve Meyer (Carey), Lynn Meyer (John Vogt), Vicki Elo (Greg), Brian Meyer (Kelly), Greg Meyer, Jon Meyer, Eric Winter and Cody Winter; great grandchildren, Kyle and Chloe Meyer; brother, Ed Schulzetenberg (Irene) of Sauk Centre; and sister, Marie Laing (Larry) of Freeport.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Pauline Schulzetenberg; step mother, Louise Schulzetenberg; husband, Norbert Meyer; granddaughters, Beth and Becky Meyer; brothers and sisters, Martin, Rev. Ray, Sister Ermenilda Schulzetenberg, OSB, Irene Schulzetenberg, Henry and Othmar.
Casket bearers will be Mary Beth McEvoy, Vicki Elo, Greg Meyer, Eric Winter, Cody Winter and John Vogt. Cross bearer will be Lynn Meyer. Scripture bearer will be Lois Tamm and honorary bearers will be Christian Mothers. Gift bearers will be Pat Meyer, Gary Meyer and Greg Elo.
