Rose E. Brickweg, age 95, of Melrose died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004 at the Melrose Area Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Wed., Sept. 15, 2004 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Vince Lieser officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call Tues. from 4 to 9 p.m. and Wed. from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. St. Elizabeth's Society will pray at 6:30 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home Tuesday.
Rose E. Brickweg was born Sept. 20, 1908 in Grove Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Nicholas and Caroline (Struck) Sonnen. She married Norbert Brickweg on Oct. 9, 1945 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Melrose. They farmed and managed a turkey farm near Melrose for many years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and St. Elizabeth's Society. Rose enjoyed playing cards, gardening and quilting.
Survivors include her sister, Rita Thorne of St. Cloud; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lambert Sonnen; sisters, Ann Hinnenkamp, Catherine, Gertrude, Bertha and Myrtle Sonnen.
Casket bearers will be Gerald Sonnen, Thomas Thorne, Paul Thorne, Joe Herges, Amy Schneider and Jim Brickweg. Cross bearer will be Jean Ritter and scripture bearer will be Pat Molitor.
Memorials are preferred to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Melrose.
