Ronald W. "Ron" Betow, age 51 of Sauk Centre, died peacefully surrounded by his family Thursday, April 16, 2009 at St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre, Minnesota after a short battle with cancer.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 21 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Rev. Todd Schneider will officiate with inurnment following in Unity Cemetery, rural Sauk Centre.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Parish prayers will be at 5:15 p.m. followed by Christian Mothers at 7:30 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.

Ron Betow was born March 27, 1958 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to Martin and Rose (Schmidt) Betow. He was a 1976 graduate of Sauk Centre High School. He resided in Minneapolis for many years, where he was employed downtown at Miller's Popcorn Shop for ten years, Woolworth's, and then at Walgreen's for 13 years. For the past year, he had resided in the Sauk Centre area and had been employed at Wal-Mart.

Ron enjoyed fishing and watching Twins baseball. He loved to help his brother, Mark, on the farm.

Survivors include his mother, Rose Betow of Sauk Centre; brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews, Steve (Deb) Betow and Triniti of Prior Lake, Mark (Bonnie Petermeier) Betow of Sauk Centre, Deb Betow (Bruce) Swezey of Clinton, Linda (Dale) Merten and Jeff and Paul of Onalaska, Wisconsin, Karen (Tom) Banal and Matthew, Christopher, and Danielle of Sauk Centre, Marilyn (Alan) Latzka and Leah, Brandon, and Emily Petermeier and Jake and Tommy Latzka of Sauk Centre.

He was preceded in death by his father, Martin Betow on February 13, 2008.

Serving as urn bearer will be Tim Quade, cross bearer will be Paul Merten, and scripture bearer will be Jeff Merten. Honorary bearers will be Leah, Brandon, and Emily Petermeier, Jake and Tommy Latzka, Matthew, Danielle, and Christopher Banal and Triniti Betow.
