Roman Vornbrock, age 77, of Sauk Centre, died peacefully Friday, September 10, 2004, at his home in Sauk Centre.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 14, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, Sauk Centre with Rev. Julius Beckermann, OSB officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 to 10 a.m. Parish prayers will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
Roman Vornbrock was born September 2, 1927 in Albany to John H. and Mary A. (Boeckers) Vornbrock. He worked for Swift & Company in Sauk Centre where he met Ollie Benson. They were united in marriage on November 3, 1961 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Romie owned and operated the Standard Service Station in Sauk Centre until 1969 when he began working for the Independent School District 742 as head bus mechanic. He retired in 1989. He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. He enjoyed square dancing and loved spending time with his horse, Lady, for over 40 years. A special thank you to the staff at the Ding Dong Café, the workers at the bus garage and Ford garage, to Terry his mailman, Lillian Welle who brought him Holy Communion, and everyone who stopped by to visit Romie at his home.
Survivors include his brother and sisters, Virgil Vornbrock (Olivia) of Belgrade, Lorraine Thomes (Gregory) of Cold Spring, Marcelin "Marcy" Warner (Raymond) of Waite Park, and Winefred "Winnie" Tuholski (Dennis) of Sartell; sister-in-law, Marie Vornbrock of Sauk Centre; and many nieces and nephews from the Vornbrock and Benson families.
Romie was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ollie Vornbrock on March 24, 2002; brother, Wilfred Vornbrock; sister, Francella "Fran" Rousslang; and brother-in-law, Anthony Rousslang.
Casket bearers will be Vern Foster, Jim Winters, Richard Tabatt, Ed Zastrow, Tracy Lopez, and Milo Scheerle. Cross bearer will be Jonie Sundermann Scripture bearer will be Karen Westbrock.
