Roman J. "Romie" Proell, age 84 of Sauk Centre, died Thursday, November 18, 2010 at his home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 22 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. James Statz officiating. Inurnment will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery at a later date.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Parish prayers will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday evening.
Roman John Proell was born September 8, 1926 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to John and Anna (Hinnenkamp) Proell. He was united in marriage to Olivia "Ole" McClintick on June 16, 1958 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Roman worked as the Sauk Centre assistant city clerk for over 30 years. He enjoyed gardening, playing cards, listening to country western music, reading, and watching sports on television.
Roman was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and St. Joseph's Society.
Roman is survived by many nieces and nephews; his dog, Sam; and his new friend, Boots, the cat.
He was preceded in death by his wife Olivia "Ole" Proell on October 30, 1997; parents; and brothers, Clarence, Ervin, Edwin, and Elmer Proell.
Serving as casket bearers will be Charles "Bud" Pendroy, Jim Junger, Tony Felling, Allie Hoeschen, Jerome Denk, and Vincent Denk. Cross bearer will be Travis Denk and scripture bearer will be Nathan Denk.
