Roman R. Bruggenthies age 81 of Grey Eagle, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 7 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle with Rev. Ron Dockendorf officiating. Interment will be at Morningside Memorial Gardens in Coon Rapids following the lunch.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church in Grey Eagle. Knights of Columbus will pray at 6 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7 p.m. Thursday evening.
Roman Robert Bruggenthies was born December 17, 1932 in St. Rosa, Minnesota to Frank and Mary (Toenyan) Bruggenthies. On November 18, 1954 he married Joan Loehlein at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Roman and Joan raised their family in Spring Lake Park, Minnesota. He worked in the engineering and maintenance department at Golden Valley Hospital, Mercy Hospital, and Hyman Freightway Trucking. After retirement, the couple moved to Little Birch Lake in Grey Eagle. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and repairing whatever needed to be fixed.
Roman was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle and the Monsignor Lorsung Council #14616 Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include wife, Joan Bruggenthies of Grey Eagle; children, Deborah (Ronald) Favaloro of Collierville, Tennessee, Carla (Rodney) Bustrom of Ramsey, Bradley (Dianne) Bruggenthies of Ham Lake, and Adam Bruggenthies of Brooklyn Park; five grandchildren, Nicholas Bustrom, Kyle (Niky) Bruggenthies, Angela (Jason) Hull, Kevin Bruggenthies, and Anthony (Shelby) Favaloro; one great-granddaughter, Jozie; brothers and sister, Albert Bruggenthies of Minneapolis, Irene Stakwarski of Robbinsdale, and Alcuin Bruggenthies of Rochester.
Roman was preceded in death by his parents; sisters and brother, Angeline Haller, Lorraine Heinen, Alma Marty, and Robert Bruggenthies.
Serving as casket bearers will be Francis Marty, Richard Bruggenthies, Joseph Bruggenthies, Kenneth Bruggenthies, Ronald Bruggenthies, and Michael Haller. Honorary bearers will be the Monsignor Lorsung Council #14616 Knights of Columbus.
