Robert F. "Bud" Wiener, age 74 of Sauk Centre, died on Monday, March 3 at St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre. \
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 6 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Rev. Bernard Kahlhamer and Rev. Todd Schneider will concelebrate. Military honors will be provided by the Sauk Centre United Veterans Honor Guard with interment following in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 8 to 10 a.m. Thursday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Sauk Centre followed by United Veterans prayer service at 8 p.m. and Knights of Columbus and St. Paul's Catholic Aid at 8:30 p.m.
Bud Wiener was born on April 20, 1928 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to Ben and Mary (Reisner) Wiener. He was united in marriage to Marion Koecheler on October 23, 1957 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Melrose. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. After farming in the Sauk Centre area for many years, he was a custodian at Holy Family School until he retired. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, St. Paul's Catholic Aid, Bishop Busch Council 4863 Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 67 and Paul F. Donart VFW Post 2853.
Bud enjoyed being with his grandchildren, doing woodworking and going gambling.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Marion Wiener of Sauk Centre; three children, Dan (Ilene) Wiener and Alan (Jane) Wiener, all of Sauk Centre, Mary (Tim) Martin of St. Paul; eight grandchildren, Aaron, Kristie, Amanda, Jessica, Katie and Maggie Wiener, Jacob and Sam Martin; brothers and sisters, Leo (Toni) Wiener, Bernice (Roy) Johnson, Joan (Rich) Kortan, all of Sauk Centre, Ron Wiener of Jersey City, New Jersey, Donna Mae Tschida of New Munich.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Theresa and Rita Wiener and Alice Broermann.
Serving as casket bearers will be Leo Wiener, Dennis and Mark Kortan, Larry Broermann, Don Tschida and Tom Weber. Cross bearer will be Aaron Wiener. Honorary bearers will be Earl Pauly, Al Loehr, Gus Haeny, Don Meier, Vic Walter, Fran Unger, Bob Schmiesing, Joe Weber, Clifford Claussen, Alan Bromenshenkel and Don Bailey.
