Robert H. "Bob" Tieman, age 81, of Melrose, died Monday, November 13, 2006 at his home in Melrose.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 17 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. KenThielman officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Friday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Melrose Fire Department will pray at 6:30 p.m. followed by Melrose Veterans Honor Guard at 7 p.m. and parish prayers at 7:30 p.m.

Bob Tieman was born June 11, 1925 in Melrose, Minnesota to Henry and Margaret (Zirbes) Tieman. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II for 4 ½ years. He married Dorothy M. Matchinsky on June 13, 1949 in Melrose. Bob worked at Thiers Bottling and then at Empire Memorials in Melrose until retiring in 1990. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking. Bob was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Schanhaar-Otte VFW Post 7050, and a volunteer fireman for 25 years.

Survivors include his children, Terri Melton and her husband, John of La Habra, CA, Jim Tieman and his wife, Kim of Glencoe, and Lynn Gottwalt and her husband, Brad of St. Joseph; six grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Margaret "Peg" Iverson and her husband, Les of Big Stone City, SD, Roy Tieman and his wife, Bede of Melrose, Leo Tieman and his wife, Claire of Menominee Falls, WI, Carole Anderson of Melrose, and Celeste Pieper of Melrose.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy "Dort" Tieman on June 21, 1994; infant daughter, Mary Carole on April 25, 1964; sisters and brothers, Etta, Esther, Ralph, Tony, and Earl.Serving as casket bearers will be members of the Melrose Fire Department. Honorary bearers will be Dave Kluempke, Sheldon Budde, Bobby Hollermann, George Tieman, Roy Tieman, Jerry Notch, and all his hunting buddies.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
