Robert C. "Bob" Pallansch, age 67 of Melrose died on Tuesday, September 30, 2003 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 pm on Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Vince Lieser officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery with military honors by the Melrose Veterans Honor Guard.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 pm on Friday and from 8 to 12:30 pm on Saturday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Knights of Columbus, Council #1633 will pray at 6 pm followed by parish prayers at 7 pm Friday evening.
Bob Pallansch was born on June 8, 1936 in Melrose, Minnesota to Charles and Bertha (Roering) Pallansch. He served in the US Air Force Security Service from 1955 to 1959. He married Dorothy "Dottie" Moore on July 11, 1959 in San Antonio, TX. Bob was employed with the Great Northern, then Burlington Northern Railroad for 18 years, old Kraft Foods cheese plant in Melrose for 11 years, Stone Container in St. Cloud for 10 years and retired in 1998. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose, Knights of Columbus, Council #1633, the United Paperworkers International Union, Local 1976, and the Brotherhood of Railway Airline and Steamship Clerks, Local 1972. Bob enjoyed the history of the Great Northern/ Burlington Northern Railroad and the history of the US Air Force. He was a collector of first issue US Stamps and Coins.
Survivors include his wife, Dottie of 44 years; son, Bob and his wife, Claudia of Oak Grove and his children, Dustin, Derek, and Dylan; and daughters, Judi Kulzer and her husband, Tom of Swanville and their children, Jaime and Tony, Cindi Schwieters and her husband, Joel of Stillwater and their children, Ben and Carly.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Bertha Roering; brothers, Norbert (Bud) Pallansch of Love Park, IL, and Donald J. Pallansch of Devils Lake, ND; sister, Corrine Poos of Menomonee Falls, WI; granddaughter, Jackie Lynn Schwieters.
Casket bearers will be Dustin, Derek and Dylan Pallansch, Bill Rausch,Tim Petermeier and Larry Moore. Cross bearer will be Tony Kulzer. Scripture bearer will be Ben Schwieters.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Coborn Cancer Center/Research located at CentraCare Health Foundation 1406 6th Avenue North, St. Cloud, MN 56303.
