Robert "Bob" Loxtercamp, age 70 of Sauk Centre, went to follow in his son, Jack's footsteps to the beyond, Saturday, September 27, 2014 peacefully at his home in Sauk Centre Township, Stearns County, Minnesota.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 3 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Greg Paffel officiating. Private inurnment will take place in the Bohemian Cemetery in rural Sauk Centre.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 to 10:15 a.m. Friday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Military honors will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home by the Sauk Centre United Veterans Honor Guard. Sauk Centre United Veterans prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Robert Bernard Loxtercamp was born September 15, 1944 in Paynesville, Minnesota to Leo and Adella (Welle) Loxtercamp. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict having served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1967. On May 2, 1970 he married Dora Bishop at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Long Prairie. The couple resided southwest of Sauk Centre in Sauk Centre Township, Stearns County for the past 44 years. Through his working life, Bob worked road construction, grain bin and pole barn construction, and for many years worked at Standard Iron, where he retired from in 2006.
Bob served as a member of the Sauk Centre United Veterans Honor Guard for many years. He also volunteered at The Eagle's Healing Nest and enjoyed helping his fellow veterans with BINGO at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center. He loved anything to do with horses, was proud of his antique tractor collection, and truly enjoyed working.
Bob was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Paul F. Donart VFW Post 2853, and American Legion Post 67 and was a founding member of Rambling Riders Saddle Club.
Survivors include his wife, Dora Loxtercamp of Sauk Centre; two sons, John (Katie) Loxtercamp of Sauk Centre and Jerry Loxtercamp (Courtney Schroeder) of Sauk Centre; six grandchildren, Brendon and Cole McElwain, McKayla, Jake, Carmen, and Luke Loxtercamp; brothers and sisters, Carol (John) Marthaler of Osakis, Rudy Loxtercamp (Lorraine Clasen) of Sauk Centre, Joan (Dick) Tegels of Sauk Centre, Darlene (Art) Marthaler of Padua, Mel (Karen) Loxtercamp of Elrosa, and Vicki (Jim) Barten of Sauk Centre.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jack Loxtercamp on February 27, 2012; and brother-in-law, Eugene Marthaler.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
