Robert N. "Bob" Gomer, age 89 of Burtrum, died Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 14 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grey Eagle with Rev. Ron Tibbetts officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church in Grey Eagle.
Robert Norman Gomer was born November 29, 1921 in Frazee, Minnesota to August and Henrietta (DeVries) Gomer. When he was two years old, the family moved to Brooten. He completed through the 8th grade at the country school. When he was 19, he moved to Oregon to work in the saw mills. Bob returned to Brooten to care for the home place in Brooten. On September 26, 1952 he was united in marriage to Lila Johnson in Webster, South Dakota. They resided in Brooten until June of 1961 and then moved to the Grey Eagle/Burtrum area where they have resided for the past 50 years.
Bob was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grey Eagle. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, growing potatoes and sweet corn, gardening, making bird houses, and loved playing with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Lila Gomer of Burtrum; children, David (Sylvia) Gomer of Monterey, California, Dale (Julie) Gomer of Burtrum, and Darla (Dave) Roering of Burtrum; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Lewie (Mary) Gomer.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Willard, James, and August; and sisters, June, Delores, and Carol.
Serving as casket bearers will be Brad Gomer, Blain Gomer, Jamie Nelson, Kern Nelson, Nathan Denk, and Jerome Denk.
