Robert E. "Bob" Dean, Sr. age 68 of Sauk Centre, died on Friday, September 12, 2003 at Community Memorial Home in Osakis of cancer.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16 at First Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Rebecca Thomas officiating. Private inurnment will take place at Grove Lake Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Bob Dean was born on December 21, 1934 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to Harold and Alva (Kraft) Dean. He attended elementary school in Grove Lake and high school in Glenwood and later served in the Army National Guard. On September 27, 1959 he married Betty Claude in Sauk Centre. The couple resided in St. Paul for 13 years, where he was a welder. Since 1972 they had farmed near Padua in Raymond Township, Stearns County. Following his retirement, Bob enjoyed playing cards, hunting and fishing, listening to country music and watching the squirrels and birds. He was a member of First Lutheran Church and Padua Senior Citizens.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Dean of Sauk Centre; five children, Robert (Ann) Dean, Jr. of Sauk Centre, Jenny (Jim) Wildman of Eagle Bend, Betsy (Dean) Arceneau of Belgrade, Christine Dean of Duluth, Bradley Dean of Nelson; 11 grandchildren; brothers and sister, Charles (Janet) Dean of Elgin, Arizona, Lawrence (Beverly) Dean of St. Paul, Rolf "Butch" (Helen) Dean of Villard, Suzanne (Gene Gettel) Dean of Villard.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ronald Dean; sister, Shirley Dean.
