Robert Bruce

Robert D. "Gerb" Bruce, age 55 of Sauk Centre, died following a short battle with cancer Friday, June 27, 2014 at CentraCare Health Hospital in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 2 at Zion Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre. Rev. Marty Porter will officiate with interment following in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and at the church one hour prior to the service.

Robert David Bruce was born February 15, 1959 in Tipton, Indiana to Robert and Geraldine (Domke) Bruce. He was a 1977 graduate of Sauk Centre High School and then attended Staples Vocation Technical College for mechanical drafting. For many years he had been employed by Massman Automation Designs in Villard as a mechanical draftsman and information systems technician.

Robert loved riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and after recovering from a bad accident a year ago he was looking forward to riding again. He also enjoyed golfing, playing cards and league bowling. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the National Rifle Association.

Survivors include his sister, Julie Bruce of Shakopee; aunts and uncles, Vivian and Douglas Scott of Sauk Centre, Bernard and Sandy Domke of Virginia, Mary Austin of Sauk Rapids, and John and Pam Bruce of Arkansas; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Serving as casket bearers will be Bob Elliott, Ron "Tork" Beste, Gregg Scott, Loren Rahn, David Theisen, and Dan Berscheid.
